Saraswoti came to our hostel facility in 2016 when she was seven years old. Two years before her arrival, her dad was killed in a family dispute, and her mom was sent to prison. Before Saraswati was brought in to our hostel facility, she was living with her mom inside the prison. Saraswati had attended a local school for a year before her family’s tragedy and had stopped studying. Her mom was in tears when our school staff told her that our school was going to take care of her education, room and board.
